Former Governor of Anambra State, Peter Obi has said that the country is collapsing under the watch of President Muhammadu Buhari.

AFNews reports that the spate of attacks on security agents and formations in the Southeast which had resulted in the death of personnel and the destruction of property have continued abated.

Speaking on Tuesday during the burial of former Commissioner for Health during his time, Prof. Linus Ilika, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Akwa, Obi said the current security situation is becoming worrisome.

The People Democratic Party (PDP) stalwart also lamented the indifference of the President and his cabinet members over the present condition in the country.

He noted that the truth of the matter was that Nigeria was crumbling and yet those that should do something about it carry on as if all is well.

“The present condition of Nigeria requires all hands to be on deck. When I see the waste that still goes on among individuals as well as government officials, one is prompted to believe that we are yet to realize the depth of the rot, ranging from security challenges, dwindling economy and lack of due attention to education,” Obi said.

Meanwhile, Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State has called on the National Working Committee (NWC) of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to immediately suspend former Governor of Niger State, Babangida Aliyu.

The Rivers governor stated that Babangida should be suspended for working against the re-election of former President Goodluck Jonathan in 2015.

Recall that AFNews reported that Aliyu while reacting to his suspension by the PDP in Chachanga Local Government Area of Niger, said the North would have lost out completely if Jonathan got reelected.

Reacting, Wike stated that as a leading opposition party in Nigeria, the PDP could not afford to accept acts of gross indiscipline and impunity, because it might undermine its chances to wrest power from the APC in 2023.

He said it was heart-breaking to hear that while himself and others were campaigning for the PDP to win the 2015 general elections, the likes of Aliyu who ran for the Senate in the same general election, had hatched and executed a scheme to undermine the party.
