Safe The Nation From Greater Disaster- HURIWA Calls For Buhari’s Resignation
In response to a statement signed by Buhari’s Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, Garba Shehu in which the president described his seven years in office as tough, adding his eagerness to go.
Civil Rights Advocacy Group, Human Writers Association of Nigeria, HURIWA on Tuesday called for the resignation of President Muhammadu Buhari since the tough is tough for him.
HURIWA in a statement made the call for the President to resign to minimize the damage his “crass incompetence and gross dereliction of duty would cost the country if he stayed on till May 29th 2023”
Buhari who said this when he received some governors of the All Progressives Congress, legislators and political leaders at his residence in Daura, Katsina State during the Eid-el-Kabir celebration also called called on the striking Academic Staff Union of Universities to consider the plight of the country’s future generations as the strike stretched into the sixth month.
HURIWA, however, faulted the President’s call on ASUU stating that “the administration bears the largest chunk of the blame for totally abandoning public tertiary institutions because the children of the President, Governors, Senators, ministers and heads of government agencies are all schooling in foreign educational institutions; including the ugly scenario that the Wife of President Muhammadu Buhari has reportedly lived in Dubai the United Arab Emirates for the better part of the last seven years of the current administration of her husband.
“Following the admission by President Muhammadu Buhari that the Presidency is tough and that he is eager to go, a call has gone to President Muhammadu Buhari, from the Human Rights Writers Association of Nigeria to be honest enough to resign now to minimise the damage his crass incompetence and gross dereliction of duty would cost the Country if he stayed on till May 29th 2023,” the statement further read.
HURIWA urged Buhari to tender his resignation from office as a statesman so as to safe the nation from greater disasters should he persist in what it described as rudderless government laden with impunity and lawlessness.
