Rotary International through the Nigeria National Polioplus Committee on Tuesday 17th 2019, donated over 1000 branded aprons to the State government as part her support towards end Polio initiative in the State.
Speaking at Abia State Primary Health Care Development Agency, the Assistant Rotary Public Image Coordinator Zone 22 English speaking Africa, Rotarian Onyinye Ralph-Nwachukwu explained that the donation is part of sustained efforts by the Nigeria National Polioplus committee to support end polio initiatives in Abia State. She commended the Abia state Primary health care development Agency, WHO and other partner agencies in the state and restated Rotary international’s commitment towards a polio-free world.
Also speaking at occasion, the Executive Secretary ASPHCDA, Dr. Chinagozi Adindu commended Rotary International for what it has done, stressing that the distribution of the apron to different location of the State will help enlighten the public on the importance of ending the Polio scourge.
The Executive Secretary prayed God to continue to be with Rotary International so as to do more for the wellbeing of mankind.
On his part while taken delivery of the materials, the State Deputy Governor Rt. Hon. Sir Ude Oko Chukwu who is also a Rotarian, expressed delight on behalf of the state government, noting that Rotary International can never be forgotten for the good it has continued to do in the world.
The State Deputy Governor explained that due to the high premium the government placed on the health sector, it helped in its improvement, stressing that health is wealth.
He promised to ensure that the materials donated are not diverted, but distributed to vaccinators and other volunteers to help end polio.
Highlights during the event was the decoration of the Deputy Governor by Past District Governor Buchy Onuoha with the EndPolioNow outfits, as well as the immunization of new borns while those in attendance were Club Presidents in Abia State, Assistant Governors, Past Assistant Governors, Rotarians and Rotaractors among others.
