LAGOS (All Facts Newspaper) — Elder statesman and former Deputy National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Chief Olabode George, has dropped a political bombshell, calling on former Vice President Atiku Abubakar and Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, to immediately resign from the party over what he described as “unrepentant anti-party activities.”

In a strongly-worded statement released on Monday, Bode George expressed outrage at the continued presence of both Atiku and Wike in the PDP, despite their open flirtations and political romance with the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC). The PDP chieftain did not mince words, describing their actions as a national embarrassment.

“Enough is enough! Anyone tired of PDP should quietly leave. As a founding elder of this party, I will not watch some individuals ridicule our structure with impunity,” he thundered.

George cited the recent visit by Atiku Abubakar to former President Muhammadu Buhari in Kaduna, questioning its motive and political implications. “Why is Atiku hobnobbing with Buhari? He is not in our party. What was the purpose of that visit if not anti-party strategy?” he asked pointedly.

He also condemned Wike’s political alignment with President Bola Tinubu, revealing that the FCT Minister has been openly working to ensure APC wins the next council election in the FCT — a directive allegedly issued directly by President Tinubu.

“Wike agreed to win FCT for APC and still claims to be PDP. Is there no shame left in our politics? Is the leadership of PDP sleeping? Why are they allowing this nonsense?” he asked.

The PDP elder further warned that if urgent disciplinary action is not taken against the duo, the party stands no chance of reclaiming power in 2027. “If Atiku is building coalitions for 2027, let him do that outside our party structure. We will not allow saboteurs within,” he stated.

According to him, Wike has become a clear liability to the PDP and has continuously used media platforms to attack the party while parading himself as a federal power broker.

“Wike organizes live interviews as if he is the president and launches verbal missiles against PDP. Is this not shameful? If there’s any shame left, this is the time for him to walk away from our party,” Bode George fumed.

On the issue of insecurity, Bode George didn’t spare the Tinubu-led federal government either. He lamented the deteriorating state of security in Benue and Plateau States, describing the spate of killings and kidnappings as unacceptable. “The nation is drifting and this is the time for former leaders to speak truth to power,” he said.

Turning to Nigeria’s economic woes, the PDP stalwart took a jab at banking executives, accusing them of contributing to the economic hardship through insider abuse and fraudulent charges.

“Where are our bank MDs getting the money to live like kings? Chartering private jets, even owning them. These are not things you see in developed countries,” he said.

He advised President Tinubu to establish a special intervention fund where bank MDs should be mandated to contribute at least N20 billion each to support struggling Nigerians.

Bode George also condemned the controversial declaration of emergency rule in Rivers State by Tinubu during the height of the political crisis. “No rat, lizard or cockroach was killed, yet you declared emergency rule and suspended an elected governor. Is this how to use power?” he queried.

In conclusion, Bode George called for immediate reforms within the PDP to restore discipline and order. “We must wield the big stick. No one is bigger than the party. The moment we remove internal liabilities, PDP will be strong enough to take over in 2027.”
