The political atmosphere in Abia State is gradually heating up ahead of the 2027 general elections, as the Bende Youths’ Consultative Forum (BYCF) has made a bold and decisive declaration that could shape the future of the state’s political landscape.
In a strongly worded statement signed by its Chairman, Hon. Chief Emenike Okorie (FCA), Omenma, the apex youth body in Bende Local Government Area threw its full weight behind the re-election of Governor Alex Otti, citing what it described as “remarkable and transformative developmental strides” across Abia State, particularly within Bende Federal Constituency.
The group maintained that Otti’s administration has redefined governance in Abia through transparency, inclusiveness, and a deliberate focus on people-oriented policies. According to the Forum, the visible transformation across communities is evidence of a government that is not only active but committed to delivering measurable results.
They pointed to strategic infrastructural projects, especially the ongoing reconstruction of the Umuahia–Uzuakoli–Akara–Alayi–Igbere Road, which they said is already boosting economic activities, improving connectivity, and raising the standard of living for residents.
While applauding these achievements, the youths also urged the state government to intensify efforts on critical road projects such as the Igbere–Ozuitem–Bende Road and the Isiegbu Ozuitem–Umuhu Ezechi–Amaeke Abam Ring Road, stressing that their completion would unlock massive agricultural and commercial potential, enhance rural integration, and improve security access.
Beyond infrastructure, the Forum commended Governor Otti’s inclusive leadership style, highlighting key appointments given to Bende indigenes, including the appointment of Frank Iheanyi Chinasa as Abia State Liaison Officer in Abuja. According to them, such gestures reflect a government that recognizes merit and values unity.
In what appears to be a major political turning point, the Forum officially endorsed Governor Otti for a second term in 2027, insisting that continuity is critical to sustaining the reforms currently reshaping Abia State.
The group further revealed that prominent Bende son, Chima Anyaso, is the Founder and Sole Sponsor of the “OTTI AGAIN 2027 Movement,” a grassroots-driven campaign mobilizing support for the Governor’s re-election bid.
In the same breath, the Forum declared total support for the House of Representatives ambition of Chimaobi Desmond Anyaso, describing his candidacy as a strategic move that would create synergy between federal representation and ongoing state development efforts.
According to the group, such alignment would not only attract federal presence to Bende but also expand opportunities in youth empowerment, education, healthcare, and social welfare. They emphasized that his track record in humanitarian services and grassroots engagement makes him a strong contender capable of delivering impactful representation.
Reaffirming its commitment to the vision of a “New Abia,” the Bende Youths’ Consultative Forum pledged continued support for policies that promote fairness, inclusiveness, and sustainable development, insisting that every community must feel the impact of governance.
As political alignments continue to unfold, this latest endorsement signals a growing consolidation of grassroots support that could play a decisive role in shaping Abia’s political future in 2027.
