President Muhammadu Buhari has approved the appointment of a new Medical Director (MD), Federal Medical Centre, Bida, Niger State, Dr Usman Abubakar.
All Facts News reports that the Minister of State for Health, Dr Olorunnimbe Mamora, announced Abubakar’s appointment in a letter released on Thursday.
The appointment of the new MD takes effect from Sept. 14, 2021 for a term of four years.
Before his appointment, Abubakar was the Ag. Medical Director and the Head of Clinical Services and Training of the centre.
Congratulating Usman, Buhari urged him to work hard to ensure that the hospital was positioned to provide quality health care services to the people.
The president said: “It is expected that you will not only work hard to ensure that the hospital continues to provide quality health care, but endeavour to improve on the achievements and leave your mark of progress on the institution.
“I also urge you to justify the confidence reposed in you by this appointment and work with all stakeholders for industrial peace and harmony in support of Mr President’s Next Level Agenda.”
Abubakar, an indigene of Kutigi, Lavun Local Government Area of Niger, graduated from the Ahmadu Bello University (ABU) Zaria, Faculty of Medicine.
He is a member of the West African Postgraduate Medical College, and a fellow of the National Postgraduate Medical College of Nigeria.
His appointment followed the expiration of the eight-year term of the former MD, Dr Muhammad Usman-Aminu.
