Police Arrests Prisoner Who Sends Threat Messages, Collects Money | READ MORE

An ex-convict, Smart Richard and Kingsley Richard, a prisoner currently serving a jail term at the Kirikiri Custodial Centre have been nabbed for sending threat messages to people and collecting money from them in Lagos state.

According to a statement by the Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Abiodun Alabi, on Wednesday, when parading some suspects, Richard who had served a 5-year jail term, was arrested following an investigation that ensued after the state police command received series of complaints on threat to their lives from a telephone number, 08165270517 and monitoring of movement since December 2022.

Richard who hails from Delta state confessed that he collates phone numbers of targets while Kingsley Richard either calls or sends messages threatening their targets.

“Smart is an ex-convict who had served a five-year jail term at the Kirikiri Medium Custodial Centre. The suspect identified one Kingsley Richard, currently serving a jail term at the Kirikiri Custodial Centre as his associate.

“Further investigation revealed that while Smart collated telephone numbers and operated an online wallet account through which they collected their blackmail money, Richard, while still in prison, sent the threat messages and made threat calls to the collated numbers.

“The command is currently working with the Nigeria Correctional Service towards extending investigations to Kingsley Richard,” Alabi said.
