The Peoples Democratic Party, (PDP), has unveiled an Electronic Registration (E-Registration) for its members, to build the party’s strength nationwide.
A formal launch of the initiative was held on Tuesday, August 31 in Akwa, Anambra State capital.
Speaking at the event, the Abia State Governor, Dr. Okezie Ikpeazu, charged members of the party in Anambra State, to take the program of electronic registration very seriously as a clear strategy to boost the strength of the party and its capacity to win elections, adding that as long as elections are won by the highest number of votes cast on election day, numerical strength remains a strong issue. He also assured the party that the Governors will take the message to their respective states and do the needful.
On his own part, Governor Godwin Obaseki of Edo State, who is the Chairman of the Committee of the Party on e-registration tasked all members of the party to take advantage of this new platform and update their registration. He also informed that the registration on the platform of the party will also give impetus to the quest to get members registered as eligible voters in the ongoing voters registration by INEC.
He said that the party chose to formally launch the program in Anambra State because of the impending gubernatorial election in the State and urged party faithfuls to come out and register and vote for the candidate of the PDP, Valentine Ozigbo.
Other speakers at the event included the Governor of Oyo State, Seyi Makinde, former Governor of Anambra State, Peter Obi, National Organizing Secretary of the PDP, Col Austin Akobundu (Rtd), etc.
In his remarks, the PDP Gubernatorial candidate for the November election, Mr Valentine Ozigbo told the party members that he is fully prepared to provide top quality governance to the people of Anambra State and asked all party members to key into the digital registration process of the party.
High point of the event was the presentation of a digital party identification card to Former Governor Peter Obi and the PDP candidate, Valentine Ozigbo, by governor Ikpeazu.
