The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has lifted the suspension placed on seven of its members in the House of Representatives.
The National Publicity Secretary of the party, Kola Ologbondiyan, announced this in a statement on Thursday, February 18.
According to the statement, the suspension placed on Hon. Ndudi Elumelu, Hon. Wole Oke, Hon. Lynda Ikpeazu, Hon. Anayo Edwin, Hon. Gideon Gwani, Hon. Toby Okechukwu and Hon. Adekoya Addul-majid, was lifted by the National Working Committee (NWC) based on the recommendations of the various committees set on issues relating to the suspension.
Mr Ologbondiyan urged the lawmakers to ensure a stronger and more viable opposition that speaks with one voice in the House.
The lawmakers were asked to maintain their loyalty to the party and obey its directives in line with its constitution and vision of its founding fathers. The party also promised that it will continue to recognize the PDP Caucus of the House of Representatives as led by Hon. Kingsley Chinda.
The People’s Democratic Party had on July, 2019, suspended the seven lawmakers for anti-party activities, particularly their roles in the selection of the minority leader of the house.
