Prominent Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) chieftain and Chairman of the E.C.K Foundation, Chief Dr. Emeka Kalu, has publicly endorsed Governor Alex Otti, OFR, for a second term in office. The endorsement, made on December 31, 2024, highlights the Governor’s remarkable contributions to the development of Abia State and his unwavering commitment to the welfare of its citizens.
Chief Kalu made the declaration during a media briefing after a private visit to the Governor’s Umuehim Nvosi country home in Isiala Ngwa South Local Government Area.
Speaking passionately about Governor Otti’s achievements, Chief Emeka Kalu described him as a Godsent leader who has transformed Abia State in ways no administration has done before.
“What Governor Alex Otti is doing in Abia is unprecedented. Nobody has ever achieved what he has done in such a short time,” Chief Kalu stated. “This is the first time we are seeing a Governor who truly understands the needs of the people and is committed to addressing them effectively.”
Chief Kalu pointed to ongoing infrastructural projects, such as the recently flagged-off airport construction, cleaner cities, and improved social amenities, as evidence of Governor Otti’s dedication to Abia’s revival.
One of the highlights of Governor Otti’s leadership, according to Chief Kalu, is the transformation of Aba, a major commercial hub in the Southeast.
“Aba used to be known for its overwhelming refuse dumps and poor living conditions. Today, the city is cleaner, better organized, and more conducive for businesses to thrive,” he noted. “This is the kind of leadership Abia has been yearning for.”
Chief Kalu questioned the actions of previous administrations and their failure to deliver meaningful development despite receiving similar resources.
“What happened to Abia all these years? Does it mean past administrations did not receive the same allocations? Governor Otti’s work is proof that leadership is about prioritizing the needs of the people,” he said.
Though a staunch PDP member, Chief Kalu emphasized that governance should prioritize public interest over political affiliations.
“As a seasoned politician, I understand that political parties are merely vehicles for elections. What matters most is whether the people are benefiting from governance,” he explained. “Governor Otti has shown that leadership is about results, not party loyalty.”
He further urged politicians to focus on delivering dividends of democracy to their constituents, adding that Governor Otti’s administration exemplifies what good governance looks like.
Describing Governor Otti as a leader chosen by God, Chief Kalu reiterated his belief that Otti’s administration is a divine intervention for Abia.
“This man is Godsent. He is here to fix Abia and return the state to its rightful place of pride,” he declared. “We must all support him to complete this important mission.”
“No Vacancy in Abia Government House”
Chief Emeka Kalu left no doubt about his stance on the 2027 gubernatorial elections, declaring that there is “no vacancy” in the Government House.
“As far as I am concerned, Governor Alex Otti must complete his work. He is transforming Abia, and the people are seeing the results,” he said. “We cannot afford to disrupt the progress he is making.”
Chief Kalu called on all Abians, regardless of political affiliation, to rally behind Governor Otti and support his vision for the state. He noted that unity and collective effort are essential for the continued growth and prosperity of Abia.
“Let us put party politics aside and focus on the bigger picture—ensuring Abia State becomes a model of development and good governance,” he concluded.
While Governor Otti did not make an official statement during the visit, sources close to the Governor revealed his gratitude for Chief Kalu Emeka’s endorsement and his commitment to continuing the transformative work in Abia.
