OUR COMMAND HAS WITNESSED REDUCTION IN CRIME, SAYS ABIA POLICE BOSS

The Commissioner of Police Abia State Police Command Mr. Etim Ene Okon says the Command has witnessed tremendous reduction in crime and criminality in 2019, hinting that this was achievable through the unrelenting efforts and perseverance put in place by the officers and men of the Command.

The Police boss who stated this during a Press Briefing at the Police Headquarters, in Umuahia explained that despite the good record in fighting crime, the Command however recorded casualty’s in both human and material resources and used the medium to acknowledge the supports received from the Government and good people of the State.

Mr. Ene Okon further stressed that the Command is determined to ensure that Abians and residents enjoy their Christmas and New Year festival peacefully and enjoined all and sundry not to get bored with volunteering of credible information that will enhance the Commands output.

He went further to add that within the last couple of months, the Command was able to arrest an Armed Robbery Suspect Kenneth Emmanuel and recovered arms from him one locally made cut to size double barrel gun, one locally made single barrel gun and one locally made pistol.

Continuing, the State Police boss pointed out that so far, the Command has been able to arrest over 127 Armed Robbery suspects, 114 kidnappers, 150 cultists and many more, adding that about 658 suspects have so far been charged to court.

He said that the only Chrismas gift he will give to Abians is that they will experience a hitch free yuletide season and added that he has directed officers and men and all Area Commands in the State to ensure that there is no burn fire of any sort on the streets during the season.

In an interview, one of the robbery suspects Mr. Kenneth Emmanuel explained that he was lured into the business by one Chigozie Silas whom he said has been in the business of snatching people tricycles and vehicles at gun point, saying that if he could be given a second chance, he will be a changed person.
