…The new Umuene Court Complex in Isiala Ngwa South marks a major milestone in Governor Alex Otti’s plan to modernize justice delivery across Abia’s 17 LGAs.
In a bold move to strengthen the rule of law and ensure equal access to justice across Abia State, Governor Dr. Alex Chioma Otti, OFR, will this Wednesday commission the newly completed Umuene Court Complex in Isiala Ngwa South Local Government Area.
The commissioning is part of the Otti administration’s far-reaching Judicial Reform Agenda, designed to reposition the justice sector as a foundation for democracy, accountability, and social stability.
Speaking while briefing journalists after this week’s State Executive Council Meeting held at the Government House, Umuahia, the Commissioner for Information, Prince Okey Kanu, described the Umuene Court Complex as one of 16 new ultra-modern court buildings currently being constructed across Abia’s 17 Local Government Areas.
According to him, these facilities are equipped with state-of-the-art technology, modern chambers, offices, and digital filing systems — all aimed at improving the efficiency, transparency, and accessibility of justice delivery.
“The new court complexes are not just buildings; they represent a new era of judicial efficiency and fairness. Governor Otti believes that justice must be brought closer to the people, regardless of location or social status,” Prince Kanu stated.
He explained that the Otti-led administration views the judiciary as the conscience of democracy — a pillar that must be strengthened to ensure equity, fairness, and the protection of citizens’ rights.
Prince Kanu added that the soon-to-be-commissioned court houses will serve as beacons of innovation and technological advancement, symbolizing the state government’s commitment to institutional reforms that foster trust and stability.
The Commissioner assured that the government remains steadfast in its resolve to complete all 16 court projects across the LGAs to deepen the presence of justice institutions at the grassroots level.
Observers say the commissioning of the Umuene Court Complex is another testament to Governor Alex Otti’s transformational governance model, which prioritizes infrastructure, human capital, and institutional renewal as key drivers of Abia’s development.
