AS ABIA CIVIL SERVANTS REJECT OKEZIE IKPEAZU’S N10 MILLION BRIBE
The Alex Otti Campaign Organisation is glad to note that the civil servants in Abia State have rejected the N10 million bribe money offered to them by Governor Okezie Ikpeazu, describing it as a Greek gift.
We condemn in very strong terms the move by the governor to bribe civil servants in the state barely three days to the governorship election.
Ikpeazu’s action is tantamount to vote buying and we call the attention of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), the EFCC, the Police, DSS, the international community and all other relevant bodies to this development.
The governor had summoned civil servants at the state secretariat Umuahia, yesterday, with a firm instruction that they come with their permanent voter cards (PVCs).
The text message conveying the meeting read:
“Please be informed that the Gov. in company of the HOS will be visiting all civil servants in Abia at the Nnamdi Azikiwe Secretariat on Wednesday 6th March, 2019 by 12:00 Noon. Come with your PVC. Inform any staff you can remember and have the contact”.
It is very shameful and scandalous for a governor who is owing civil servants and pensioners several months in arrears of their salaries and pensions to mock the same people he could not afford to pay, with N10 million bribe.
Ikpeazu’s action is pure wickedness and speaks volume of the disdain with which he has treated civil servants in Abia State for the past close to four years that he has been in office.
Abia people can now understand when Dr. Alex Otti, the governorship candidate of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) told the world that Okezie Ikpeazu is using hunger as a weapon against the people of Abia State. This is a classic example of what Dr. Otti meant.
Whereas it might be difficult, particularly in these extreme austere times, to tell the civil servants to spit on the governor and his poisonous gift, we urge them to take the money, if it comes, but treat it as interest on the debt that the PDP government in Abia has been owing them.
We trust that the civil servants in Abia State are more discerning than the governor make them out to be and will not fall for this kind of serpentine manoeuvring to cajole and deceive them to cast their votes for him and his party, PDP, this Saturday.
Abia indigenes and residents have had enough of PDP and their puppet governors and godfathers and are determined to close that ugly chapter with the 2019 gubernatorial election. Even if Gov. Ikpeazu decides to corruptly gift the entire state budget for the year to the civil servants, that will still not change anything.
We urge Ndi Abia not to despair anymore. This is our finest moment. We should troop out in great number on Saturday March 9, 2019 and tell Okezie Ikpeazu and PDP that we have had enough of them and their deception. Enough is enough! Abia State must move forward. It is time for us to vote someone with a track record of achievement and accomplishments.
A vote for Dr. Alex Otti and APGA will be a vote wisely cast. It is a vote that will open a fresh chapter in the history of Abia State. It is a vote that will engender economic prosperity and progress. It is a vote that will enact a new order of leadership. It is a vote for freedom; freedom from godfatherism and political bondage.
