In a historic move that underscores his administration’s commitment to sustainable development and good governance, Governor Alex Otti of Abia State is set to commission and flag off a total of 55 infrastructural projects across the state over the next few weeks.
This was revealed on Monday during a press briefing at the Government House in Umuahia by Prince Okey Kanu, the state Commissioner for Information, following the latest State Executive Council meeting presided over by the Governor.
Prince Kanu described the upcoming commissioning and flag-off as “unprecedented for a sub-national,” hailing it as clear proof of the Otti-led administration’s rapid transformation of Abia State within just two years in office.
“As promised by His Excellency, Dr. Alex Otti, OFR, in the coming weeks, Abians will witness the commissioning of 42 completed projects and the flag-off of 13 new ones. That gives us a total of 55 projects,” the Commissioner announced.
According to him, the breakdown of projects includes:
17 newly constructed Primary Health Centres, one in each of the 17 Local Government Areas
14 completed road projects across major urban and rural communities
Additional key initiatives across MDAs, including:
Ministry of Power & Public Utilities
Lands and Housing
Ministry of Trade and Commerce
Public-Private Partnership Office
Greater Aba Development Authority (GADA)
Greater Ohafia Development Authority (GODA)
Prince Kanu further emphasized that this wave of development is just the beginning, assuring residents that specific dates, venues, and schedules for each commissioning and flag-off event will be published shortly.
Abians are buzzing with excitement over the anticipated improvements in healthcare, road infrastructure, housing, energy, and commerce. For many citizens, these projects represent not just development, but hope, inclusion, and a government that delivers on its promises.
The Otti administration has continued to draw praise for its visionary and people-first leadership style, often contrasting sharply with the previous administrations that left critical infrastructure across the state in decay.
With this bold rollout of 55 projects, Dr. Alex Otti is once again redefining governance and setting new standards for leadership in the South-East and beyond.
