“Otti Must Complete 8 Years, Bourdex for Senate” — ABSEG Unveils Powerful Endorsement

ABSEG has issued a powerful communiqué backing Governor Alex Otti and adopting Chief David Ogba Onuoha (Bourdex) for Abia North ahead of 2027. Read full details.

In what has been described as one of the boldest political interventions ahead of the 2027 general elections, the Abia State Equity Group (ABSEG) has officially thrown its weight behind Governor Alex Chioma Otti for a second term while also endorsing Chief Dr. David Ogba Onuoha (Bourdex) as its preferred candidate for the Abia North Senatorial seat.

The far-reaching resolutions were contained in a communiqué issued at the end of ABSEG’s high-powered meeting held on Tuesday, January 14, 2026, in Umuahia, where members extensively reviewed the political future, equity balance and development trajectory of Abia State.

According to the group, Governor Otti must be allowed to complete his full eight-year constitutional tenure to consolidate the massive reforms and people-oriented projects currently transforming the state.

ABSEG declared that any attempt to truncate Otti’s administration would amount to sabotaging Abia’s rebirth, noting that the Governor has already redefined governance through visible infrastructure, transparency, accountability and people-focused policies.

In a strong show of political endorsement, the group praised the Otti-led administration for what it described as “giant and transformative strides” in governance, saying Abians are witnessing, for the first time in years, a government driven by accountability and real development.

The group maintained that Abia is finally on the right path and should not be distracted by political distractions ahead of 2027.

Beyond the governor’s endorsement, ABSEG also made a powerful equity declaration on the Abia North Senate seat, insisting that Ohafia Local Government Area deserves the slot in 2027 as a matter of justice, balance and political fairness.

The group said Ohafia has made significant contributions to the political development of Abia North and should be given the opportunity to produce the next senator.

In what will reshape Abia North politics, ABSEG unanimously adopted Chief Dr. David Ogba Onuoha (Bourdex) as its preferred and credible candidate for the Abia North Senatorial election in 2027.

The group said its choice was based on Bourdex’s character, competence, capacity and commitment to people-centered leadership, describing him as a man with the vision and integrity to deliver quality representation.

ABSEG emphasized that while it is not a partisan body, it remains committed to promoting individuals with proven leadership and moral credibility across party lines.

The group also issued a statewide call for massive voter mobilisation, urging political stakeholders, youths, community leaders and civil society organisations to aggressively mobilise Abians to register, update and collect their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs).

According to ABSEG, voter participation will be decisive in protecting Abia’s future and ensuring that the people’s will prevails.

In a move expected to resonate strongly across the South-East, ABSEG called on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to grant clemency and pardon to Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, describing it as a necessary step toward national reconciliation, peace and stability.

The group said Nigeria needs healing and unity now more than ever.

Signed by Rev. Dr. Okechukwu Christopher Obioha JP, Chairman of ABSEG, and Elder Hon. Okechukwu Obanu, Secretary, the communiqué reaffirmed the group’s commitment to equity, justice, unity and sustainable development in Abia State.
