The long-abandoned Enyimba Hotel Aba has come alive again as Abia State Governor, Dr. Alex Chioma Otti, OFR, officially commenced its long-awaited reconstruction and retrofitting into a 5-star world-class hospitality hub.
The historic facility, once a pride of Aba and the state, had remained in ruins for decades, serving as a painful reminder of neglect by past administrations. But with Governor Otti’s intervention, the landmark project is now set to transform into a modern hospitality and tourism hub that will not only restore the glory of Aba but also boost the economy of Abia State.
Already, site preparation has begun with the clearing of overgrown vegetation, a symbolic yet significant step that marks the beginning of the massive redevelopment work expected to follow.
According to the state government, the project is in partnership with globally recognized hospitality brand Radisson Blu, a development that is expected to bring world-class standards, job opportunities, and attract both local and international visitors to Aba.
Stakeholders in the business community have welcomed the move, describing it as a bold step that aligns with Governor Otti’s vision of transforming Aba into a commercial, industrial, and investment hub in Nigeria.
The rehabilitation of Enyimba Hotel, they noted, will complement the Governor’s ongoing urban renewal drive, infrastructural development, and security initiatives, all of which are aimed at repositioning Abia for sustainable growth.
Governor Otti has repeatedly assured that every project embarked upon by his administration will be executed with transparency and accountability, stressing that Enyimba Hotel’s rebirth will not only uplift the image of Aba but also provide direct and indirect employment for thousands of Abians.
With the work now officially flagged off, excitement is building among residents who believe that the dream of seeing Aba as the true commercial capital of the South-East is fast becoming a reality under Otti’s watch.
