Orji Uzor Kalu Takes Pride In Seeing Abia North People Suffer – Mao Ohuabunwa | WATCH VIDEO
Senator Mao Ohuabunwa, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP)’s 2023 candidate for Abia North Senatorial District has alleged that the current senator representing Abia North, Dr Orji Uzor Kalu, takes pride in seeing his constituents suffer.
Ohuabunwa in a media interaction with correspondent chapel journalists on Tuesday, said Orji Uzor Kalu has betrayed his people and has never raised his voice before the senate against the abnormal insecurity bedeviling the axis. He said senator Kalu has rather fought for his own interest which does not reflect the interest of Abia North people who according to Ohuabunwa, are now in bondage.
Ohuabunwa said, the insecurity in Abia North is the multiple effect of having poor representation, adding that those in the cities have lost interest in returning to their villages.

“to go to Umunneochi today, you carry your heart at hand. The people are suffering, they are in bondage. see the level of kidnapping, when even a prelate of Methodist Church Nigeria was kidnapped and today as I speak, not a voice raised it on the floor of the senate. You know that when Mao Ohuabunwa was there, I would shout to high heavens;
“rather the senator representing that constituency takes pride in seeing your people suffering instead of going to find out what the problems are, you are saying that you brought RUGA even when I feel you don’t know the meaning of RUGA” Ohuabunwa said.
He also accused kalu of betraying his people with his support for the muslim-muslim ticket of the All Progressive Congress (APC).
“you are betraying the faith of the people you are representing; You have betrayed the mandate the people gave you to represent them because representation should be total”.
He accused Senator kalu of telling lies on the floor of the senate with his statement that the people of Abia north has no access to networks and cannot support the electronic transmission of election result.
‘Its a shame. There is network in Abia north even in Igbere, we have bands; its time we come back and recover” he added.
“It takes an unselfish person to be a parliamentarian; once you become a parliamentarian your voice seizes to be your voice, it must be the voice of your people. as long as you are representing the people, your voice now becomes the voice of the people, whatever you say on a national discuss must be what your people have asked you to say or what is in their interest not what you feel is your personal opinion”
“instead of empathizing with your people you are now taking pride in seeing your people in pain; in seeing your people being maimed; in seeing your people being r-aped and killed” he lamented.
He called on all to join hands to stop insecurity in Abia North, adding that “first of all we must recover our voice because nobody is speaking for us today rather we are known as jesters” Ohuabunwa said.
