On January 25 this year, the groundbreaking and foundation laying ceremony of the Ibeku Egwu Asaa Mini Stadium, Isieke Ibeku, sponsored by the Speaker, Abia State House of Assembly, Rt Hon Chinedum Enyinnaya Orji MNSE, took place amid pomp and ceremony.
Many knew that with the calibre and pedigreee of the Speaker, its quality and timely completion would be pursued with vigour and relentless commitment, especially when the people it is meant to serve have declared that they can’t wait to start putting the one-in-town edifice to effective use.
Recall that on the day of the groundbreaking/foundation laying ceremony, leaders and people of Ibeku land, sports administrators and enthusiasts, ex-professional footballers etc, who came from far and near, to witness the occasion had said that going by the design of the mini stadium and the historic renown of the Abia Speaker for quality and timeliness, the stadium would start producing a new era of football stars that will eventually ply their trades in clubs of no mean repute like Enyimba International of Aba, Abia Warriors of Umuahia, Arsenal, Chelsea, Manchester United Football Clubs of England, Real Madrid and Barcelona of Spain etc, in no distant time.
It is therefore not surprising that just one month after the foundation of the stadium was laid, work has never stopped and the stadium is already taking shape.
In Abia, we have leaders who are not only committed to quality but also to the timely delivery of quality projects to the people. The same has been demonstrated by the Governor. The same has been demonstrated by Members of the 7th Abia State House of Assembly, and the same is being demonstrated today, as always, by Mr Speaker. After all, that’s what democracy is all about.
Kudos to our ebullient Speaker, Rt Hon Chinedum Enyinnaya Orji.
