The Bauchi State Chapter of the Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders’ Association of Nigeria (MACBAN) has advised its members to leave the 17 southern states where open grazing has been banned by governors.
“This is a straightforward calculation,” MACBAN Chairman Sadiq Ibrahim Ahmed stated. We’re on the verge of seceding. The rulers are no longer concerned with the people’s welfare. There is little more that can be done if certain people are prohibited from grazing in the open. Fulani people should leave the area. It’s fairly straightforward.
“Are we required to transport the cattle there? It’s something I’ve said before. We can breed our cattle here if we want to (North). We are peace activists. Allow them to purchase from us. Some people are to blame. That is something the governors of the South can accomplish. It’s not a problem; just let them do what they want. If the Northern governors so desire (banning open grazing), they can do so as well…”
“The President (BUHARI) is there as a figurehead,” he stated. He has no idea what he’s doing. He isn’t in charge of anyone. Everyone in our country now does whatever he wants. The country is already separating. Where is the central government if a group of governors can get together and make decisions that are contrary to the Constitution…?”
The solution to Nigeria’s security problem, according to Sadiq, is for the president to step away or for Nigerians to put their heads together and elect a credible president in 2023, one who is focused and competent. Nigeria needs a leader who can lead by example and is willing to lay down his life for his people.”
