Onyema Ugochukwu @ 76: Gregory University Uturu Celebrates Pro Chancellor

Management, staff and scholars of Gregory University Uturu have felicitated the pioneer Executive Chairman of Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), Chief Onyema Ugochukwu, who recently turned 76.

 

In a press statement made available to journalists, the Vice Chancellor of the university, Prof Augustine Uwakwe eulogized the eminent politician, who also holds sway as Pro Chancellor and Chairman of Governing Council of the institution.

According to Prof Uwakwe, The entire Gregory University Uturu community is rejoicing with our Pro Chancellor, Chief Onyema Ugochukwu as he turns 76. We are indeed proud of the impressive record of his social and political contributions to the state and nation, as Adviser to President Olusegun Obasanjo, pioneer Executive Chairman of NDDC and frontline gubernatorial candidate.

The Vice Chancellor stated that the recent emergence of Chief Ugochukwu as Pro Chancellor of the university is a good omen that presages the commencement of a new era for the young institution. In his words, It is instructive that since the emergence of Chief Ugochukwu as Pro Chancellor and Chairman of Council, the university has recorded tremendous advancement in many sectors, an indication and positive affirmation of the commencement of a highly productive phase. It is therefore our prayer that God continues to renew his age to enable him sustain the delivery of voluntary service to the society.

Born in Umuahia on 9 November 1944, Chief Onyema Ugochukwu is an Economist, Journalist and a frontline Nigerian politician.
