The Chief Press Secretary to the Abia State governor, Barrister Onyebuchi Ememanka, has said that there is a deliberate and mischievous ground design to de-market the state.

Ememanka said this in a press conference with journalists in Government House Umuahia on Wednesday, November 17.

He lamented that people fail to talk about already constructed roads like Osusu road, adding that when governor Ikpeazu fixed Faulks road and others, critics especially on social media refused to acknowledge the work done already.

The Press Secretary while clearing the air on the alleged $56m allocated for road construction, said the Abia state government hasn’t accessed the $56m fund in total, however some part of the fund has been accessed which is in use in projects like Ngwa road, Aba.

He maintained that Port Harcourt road has always been bad and didn’t collapse under Governor Ikpeazu’s administration, which the governor has now constructed drainage channels on for the first time.

“in the interim, Port-Harcout road was designed to be a 6 lane road- that is the original design. As at today, in fact as at the last one year, drainage work has been completed on Port-harcourt road.

Governor Ikpeazu has done the road for the first time in many years. Port-harcout road did not collapse under governor Ikpeazu, it has always been bad for a long time before governor Ikpeazu came into office.

He assured that there is a clear strategy to fix the road as work is ongoing. He said the current administration will do earth works on the six lanes and one asphalted lane end to end (port-harcourt road to Ngwa road to Cemetery junction) for now because of shortage of fund. However before the end of the tenure, all 6 lanes will be asphalted.
