“Only a Blind Man Will Say Alex Otti Hasn’t Performed” — Chief Emeka Kalu Fires Back at Benjamin Kalu

Chief (Dr.) Emeka Kalu has fired back at Deputy Speaker Benjamin Kalu, describing his comment on Governor Otti as excessive. He hailed Otti as a miracle-working Governor transforming Abia, adding that “only a blind man will say Otti hasn’t performed.” Read full details of his response.

… Chief (Dr.) Emeka Kalu tackles Deputy Speaker Benjamin Kalu over recent comments on Abia’s progress, hails Governor Otti as a miracle worker transforming the state, and appeals for electricity restoration in Bende.

The political atmosphere in Abia State has again been stirred following a passionate response from Chief (Dr.) Emeka Charles Kalu, an Abia North senatorial Aspirant and national political leader, to the recent remarks made by the Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Benjamin Kalu.

Chief Kalu, reacting to Benjamin Kalu’s comments about the performance of Governor Alex Otti, described the Deputy Speaker’s statement as “a bit excessive,” stressing that what Abia needs now is unity, understanding, and continuity of good governance, not divisive political rhetoric.

“With all due respect to our Honourable Deputy Speaker, your recent comment came across as excessive. While we welcome passionate contributions, what Abia needs most now is unity and focus on delivering the real dividends of democracy to our people,” Chief Kalu said.

He went further to describe Governor Otti as “a miracle-working Governor and a God-sent leader” whose transformative leadership has redefined governance and development in Abia State.

“Our miracle-working Governor, Dr. Alex Otti, has truly shown capacity and leadership. Abia State has been transformed from what it used to be — only a blind man would say that this God-sent Governor isn’t doing enough,” he declared.

Chief Kalu urged political stakeholders in the state to acknowledge progress where it is due, emphasizing that the governor has recorded visible achievements in roads, healthcare, education, infrastructure, and governance within just two years in office.

“Let’s give credit to whom it is due. Governor Otti has performed tremendously well across all sectors. One thing is clear — come 2027, there’s no vacancy in Abia Government House. Only those blind to progress will continue to play politics with the obvious transformation we are witnessing,” Kalu stated.

In a rare mix of praise and plea, Chief Kalu also used the opportunity to draw Governor Otti’s attention to the electricity challenges facing Bende town, noting that the people have been suffering prolonged darkness and are earnestly waiting for the Governor’s intervention.

“Your Excellency, the good people of Bende town are pleading for your kind attention toward restoring electricity in our area. We have seen your transformational works across the state — in roads, healthcare, and governance — and we are confident that with your touch, light will soon return to Bende,” Kalu appealed.

He concluded his statement by praying for the Governor and reaffirming his faith in Otti’s administration to deliver on its promises of renewed hope and progress for all Abians.

“Thank you, Your Excellency, for being the Governor that makes things happen. God bless Abia State, God bless our Governor, and may light shine in every home in Bende,” he said.

Political observers believe Chief Emeka Kalu’s response has further deepened the debate between proponents of Otti’s reforms and critics within opposition circles who claim the state’s achievements are overstated. However, for many Abians, the evidence of change remains visible — and Otti’s popularity appears unshaken.
