Ondo Governor Akeredolu, Hands Over Power To His Deputy | READ WHY
Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu of Ondo State, has handed over power, briefly to his deputy, Lucky Aiyedatiwa as he is on 21-day medical leave abroad.
There had been speculations on the governor’s health following his prolonged absence from the state with many calling on him to hand over to his deputy to avoid unconstitutional bridge.
Announcing his formal handover to his deputy, Akeredolu on Monday wrote to the Speaker of the Ondo State House of Assembly, Olamide Oladiji, informing the Assembly that Aiyedatiwa would act as Governor pending his return from medical leave.
According to the letter read before the floor by the Speaker, the governor’s leave will run from June 7 to July 6, 2023.
The letter stated that the leave, which started on June 7, has been extended to July 6, 2023, due to the public holidays on June 12 (Democracy Day) and Eid el Kabir (June 28th and 29th, 2023).
The Speaker wished Akeredolu a speedy recovery and an enjoyable vacation, while assuring the people of Ondo State that the Deputy Governor would efficiently handle the affairs of the state in the Governor’s absence.
