Controversial social media influencer, Reno Omokiri has described those against the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) new cash withdrawal limit policy as Kindnappers and bandits.
The former presidential aide, took to his Twitter to express his support for the policy stated that there is no Nigerian that needs more than N100K cash weekly.
He also stated that other than paying for transport fares or buying groceries, everything can be done cashless, among series of tweets of it on his official twitter account.
Recall, the CBN on Tuesday unveiled a revised cash withdrawal limit with a maximum of N100,000 cash withdrawal per week for individuals and N500,000 cash per week for companies.
The revised cash withdrawal limits, which take effect on January 9, 2023, also affect other payment channels, including Automated Teller Machines (ATM), Point of Sale (PoS) and cheque-based transactions.
Also, the maximum cash withdrawal through ATM is set at N100,000 per week, subject to a maximum of N20,000 cash withdrawal per day.
The proposed cash withdrawal policy limit policy received knocks from many Nigerians including business / finance experts, stakeholders and the senate.
The Senate not only faulted the Apex bank but has also scheduled a debate on the matter for next Tuesday.
As Nigerians continue to converse, expressing varying opinions on the matter, Tableshaker wrote: “There is no Nigerian that needs more than ₦100k cash weekly. Other than paying bus conductor or buying groceries, everything can be done cashless.
“It is kidnappers, bandits and sexual bandits (urgent 2k girls) who are fighting this policy using political godfathers. #TableShaker.”
