…Says her death colossal loss to NASS
Senator Mao Ohuabunwa has expressed deep shock over the death of the senator representing Cross River North, Senator Rose Oko, describing it as a huge loss to the National Assembly.
Ohuabunwa said the late Senate Committee Chairman on Trade and Investment, would always be remembered for her boldness and uncommon courage in resisting the illegal invasion of the National Assembly complex by some overzealous security operatives in 2019.
He said the late senator was a fearless and outspoken senator who always stood for the truth and made her voice heard even when men were reluctant to speak out.
Senator Ohuabunwa who said he sat on the same roll with the late Senator Oko at the red chamber further described her death as a colossal loss to Nigeria’s march towards true democracy.
He noted that courageous parliamentarins in her mold are rare, adding that she will be greatly missed for her quality contributions during proceedings at the senate .
Ohuabunwa, therefore, condoled with members of her immediate family in particular, the people of her constituency and Cross River in general as well as the senate over the demise of the late senator.
He prayed God to grant the soul of the departed eternal repose in heaven and also grant those directly and indirectly affected by her death the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss.
Recall that the 63-year-old late Senator Oko died at a UK medical facility following ” a long-fought battle with a physical affliction” according to a family source.
