Senator Mao Ohuabunwa of Abia North senatorial district, has condoled with former Senator Ben Murray- Bruce that represented Bayelsa East over the death of his wife, Evelyn.
Evelyn Murray -Bruce died of cancer Friday morning according to a statement by her husband.
They were married for 41 years according to the husband who broke the news of her death on his twitter handle.
Senator Ohuabunwa in a condolence message said he received news of the incident with rude shock.
He condoled with the Bruce family and prayed God to grant them the fortitude to bear the painful loss.
Describing the deceased as a great pillar of support and companion to her husband, Ohuabunwa prayed God to grant her soul eternal repose in heaven.
Ohuabunwa said that while they were together at the senate, Senator Bruce had always privately shared good testimonies of how the wife was a source of inspiration to him.
He therefore, called for more awareness campaign against cancer as well as more collaborative effort in the fight against the scourge.
Ohuabunwa who sponsored the bill for the establishment of National Centre for Cancer Research and Treatment already passed into law by the National Assembly , called for its immediate implementation to help reduce the menace of cancer in Nigeria.
