NPFL: LMC Sanctions Kano Pillars |SEE WHY
The League Management Company (LMC), has hit Kano-based club, Kano Pillars with a string of sanctions after Saturday’s game with League counterparts, Katsina United.
In the wake of the condemnable scenes that served as a follow of the Nigeria Professional Football League Matchday 23 clash with Katsina United on Saturday, the Nigerian football league regulatory board has slammed the top division club a-N9 million fan and a ban from their home ground, Sani Abacha Stadium.
The game which marked Pillars’ first at the Sani Abacha Stadium in Kano for the first time in over a year ended in a sterile draw with the Changi boys of Katsina United.
Displeased with the turn-out of events, irate fans took to violence, damaging properties at the stadium including the bus of the visiting team.
Reacting, the three-time league title holders condemned the violent acts and blamed them on saboteurs.
The LMC, however went on to announce stringent punishments on the Sai Masu Gida of Kano.
On the list of sanctions is also a three-point deduction, a ban on their Sani Abacha stadium from hosting NPFL games, and a mandate to repair the vandalised Katsina United team bus.
Meanwhile, the side is no stranger to fines as they were fined a whopping sum of ₦7,500,000.00 for failing to follow the orders of the LMC and NFF, which prohibited fans from viewing live games in the stadium in the 2020/2021 NPFL season.
