"No Victor, No Vanquished": Usman Calls for Unity After Supreme Court Verdict on Labour Party

The Supreme Court has ruled in favor of Senator Nenadi Usman, resolving the Labour Party leadership crisis. Usman calls for unity and a renewed focus on party progress. Read the full details of the ruling and its impact.

In a landmark judgment that has reshaped the leadership dynamics of the Labour Party, the Supreme Court has ruled in favor of Senator Nenadi Usman, allowing her appeal while dismissing the cross-appeal filed by the Abure-led faction. The ruling is widely seen as a victory for the rule of law and a reaffirmation of democratic principles in Nigeria’s political landscape.

Reacting to the judgment, Senator Nenadi Usman, who serves as Chairman of the Labour Party Caretaker Committee, emphasized that the ruling should not be seen as a contest of winners and losers but as a step toward strengthening the party’s core values. She urged all party members and stakeholders to put aside their differences and work toward unity, stating that the Labour Party remains a single, indivisible family dedicated to creating a New Nigeria based on justice, equity, and good governance.

“This is not a time for triumphalism—there is no victor and no vanquished,” Senator Usman stated. “What matters most is our shared commitment to the ideals and aspirations of the Labour Party and the Nigerian people. We must now come together, united in purpose and vision, to move the party forward.”

The Supreme Court ruling effectively puts an end to the leadership dispute that has plagued the party for months, causing internal divisions and uncertainty among its supporters. With this judgment, the party is expected to refocus its energy on national development, party restructuring, and electoral strategies ahead of future elections.

Usman also called on all Labour Party members to remain calm and steadfast in their commitment to democratic ideals. She reiterated that the party’s mission remains unchanged: to champion policies that prioritize the welfare of Nigerians and promote inclusivity in governance.

Political analysts believe that this ruling could have far-reaching implications, not just for the Labour Party but for Nigeria’s broader political landscape. The resolution of the leadership crisis provides an opportunity for the party to consolidate its strengths and prepare for future elections without the distractions of internal disputes.

With this decisive legal victory, Usman and her team are now tasked with the challenge of rebuilding trust within the party and ensuring that Labour Party remains a formidable political force in the country.
