Coach Aliyu Zubairu preached discipline for his side ahead of the clash and it turned out to be necessary.

It was a tactical clash with very little chances created on both sides.

The first half ended without a goal and sparked several chances for both sides.

There were no goals in the second half as the game proceeded to extra time.

In extra time both teams took a defensive approach and could not be separated as penalties were required.

In the penalty shoot out, Precious Benjamin scored for Nigeria and Emmanuel Chukwu scored the second after a miss by Senegal.

Israel Isaac Ayuna scored for Nigeria as Senegal missed again for the Flying Eagles to wrap up the win.

The result means that the Flying Eagles picked up a ticket in the U-20 AFCON semifinals and also qualified for the 2025 FIFA U-20 World Cup later this year.
