The Federal Government has been charged to release the budget allocated for the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), to its Interim Management Committee (IMC) for onward development of the region.

National coordinator of the Niger Delta Peace Campaign for Development Network, Mr. Fullpower Bussa, gave the charge in a statement made available to newsmen in Warri.

He also tasked stakeholders across the region to throw away sentiments and give full support to the Minister for Niger Delta Affairs, Senator Godswill Akpabio in his efforts to advance the region.

According to the statement, the IMC inaugurated by the federal government need financial support to achieve its mandate of ensuring development of the coastal states.

Bussa assured that the Professor Kemebradikumo Pondei-led IMC, had the capacity to make positive impact in the Niger Delta.

Commending Sen. Akpabio for his firm commitment to the development of the Niger Delta region, the statement said, “some of those cooking all kind of lies against the Hon. Minister of Niger Delta, Senator Godswill Akpabio should know that elections are over.

“This is the time to drop political sentiments and encourage him to succeed. Chief Akpabio is very focused on developing the region. This is not the time to distract him.”
