NCC Digital Industrial Park Vandalised In Enugu | SEE DETAILS

The Enugu State government has raised alarm over the vandalisation of the ongoing construction of a Digital Industrial Park (DIP), facilitated by the Nigerian Communications Commission NCC.

The project is one of  the several projects of the Commission initiated under the leadership of the Executive Vice Chairman of the NCC, Professor Umar Danbatta aimed at  boosting the digital economy of Nigeria.

 

In a statement signed by the State  Commissioner for Science and Technology, Mr Obi Kama, some unknown outlaws engaged in acts of vandalism in a bid to sabotage  the construction project located at the green triangle of the popular Mohammed park, beside new market, in Enugu North Local Government Area.

The statement revealed that the park will birth a digital transformation for advancement of the socio-economic goals of the south east and Nigeria at large.

“Enugu State Government had allocated Plot OS/1, Old GRA Enugu (where the green triangle, Murtala Mohammed Park is located) to the Nigeria Communications Commission (NCC), via the Enugu State Ministry of Land’s letter reference No. LEN:38779/8, dated September 8, 2020, for the construction of Digital Industrial Park (DIP).

“The park will birth the digital transformation for advancement of the socio-economic goals of the South East geo-political zone in particular and Nigeria in general” Kama said.

The commissioner regretted that some miscreants in the state have resolved to engage in acts capable of abridging the project.

 

The statement also restated the State government’s  commitment towards the  realization of the Digital Industrial Park project “for acceleration of the digital transformation of Enugu State”.

The state government however, warned the perpetrators of vandalisation on projects, to desist from such acts or  face the full wrath of the law, adding that “any person with genuine grievance is encouraged to channel it through the appropriate agency of government”.
