Disability Law: National Body Of PLWDS Storm Abia Speaker’s Residence, Appreciate Him, Pledge Support For 2023

People Living With Disabilities (PLWDS) under the auspices of Joint National Association of Persons Living With Disabilities (JNAPLWDS) earlier today stormed the Umuahia residence of the Speaker of Abia State House of Assembly, Rt Hon Chinedum Enyinnaya Orji to express their gratitude to the Speaker for leading the Abia State House of Assembly in passing the Abia State Commission for Disabled Persons Law otherwise known as “Disability Law” on August 31, 2022.

While speaking, leader of the group, Hon Wisdom Kalu Okechukwu said the Speaker’s quality leadership which has been felt by all sectors and populace of the state has ensured that even the PLWDS are protected and their interests covered.

 

He appreciated the Speaker and his colleagues at the 7th Abia State House of Assembly for remembering the vulnerable group like them and for elevating their interests in the affairs of the state. He pledged their commitment to the political ambition of the Speaker as it concerns the Ikwuano/Umuahia Federal Constituency at the 2023 general elections.

They sang songs of praise and prayed God to crown the efforts they will put into the election for him with success as they know that their interests will continue to be protected with him in Abuja.

Addressing the people, the Speaker said the “Disability Law” had to be passed as part of the Assembly’s commitment to the welfare of all Abians irrespective of class snd status.  He emphasised that the Assembly under his leadership will continue to protect the weak and vulnerable and advance their interests and that of all Abians.

The Speaker urged the PLWDS to go about their activities in peace confident of the fact that there is now a law in the State that protects them.

While thanking them for their support, he urged them to take the forthcoming elections seriously and support only candidates that have demonstrated visible commitment to them and their cause and promised to carry them along and do more for them once he is elected to the Federal House of Representatives as Member representing Ikwuano/Umuahia Federal Constituency.
