A 73-year-old Israeli man has died in a hotel in Abuja under mysterious circumstances. Police and the Israeli Embassy have stepped in. Find out what really happened.

….. Hotel management, Nigerian police, and Israeli authorities in race to unravel cause of death

A wave of confusion and speculation has engulfed Abuja following the sudden death of a 73-year-old Israeli man, Mr. Avi Warshaviak, at a luxury hotel in the Garki district of Nigeria’s Federal Capital Territory.

The incident, which has raised eyebrows due to the victim’s nationality and circumstances surrounding his death, occurred on Saturday, June 29, 2025, at the Corinthia Villa Hotel, where the deceased had been lodged with his wife.

How It Happened: Sudden Collapse in Hotel Room

According to multiple security sources, Mr. Warshaviak reportedly developed a sudden medical emergency around 9:51 a.m., prompting hotel staff and his wife to rush him to Asokoro General Hospital in Abuja.

However, upon arrival at the medical facility, doctors confirmed him dead—sending shockwaves across the hotel and diplomatic communities.

Police and Security Response

Security analyst Zagazola Makama, in a widely circulated post on X (formerly Twitter), confirmed that the case was immediately reported to law enforcement. The Chief Security Officer of Corinthia Villa Hotel, identified as Okorie Emmanuel, reported the incident to the Garki Divisional Police Headquarters at approximately 11:23 a.m.

Police officers promptly visited both the hotel and the hospital, documented the scene, and ensured the transfer of the deceased’s body to the mortuary for autopsy.

“We are treating this with the utmost diplomatic and investigative caution, considering the nationality of the deceased,” a senior police source told All Facts Newspaper on condition of anonymity.

Israeli Embassy Notified, Autopsy Pending

As of the time of filing this report, officials of the Israeli Embassy in Nigeria have reportedly been contacted by Nigerian authorities to facilitate necessary consular and diplomatic procedures.

The cause of death is yet to be officially determined, although hotel staff indicated that Mr. Warshaviak had not shown any signs of distress prior to the incident. His sudden health collapse has triggered multiple theories, ranging from natural health complications to questions surrounding hotel safety and emergency response mechanisms.

Public Reaction and International Concern

The incident has sparked a mix of confusion, concern, and conspiracy theories online, with some commenters questioning the efficiency of medical emergency protocols in top Nigerian hotels and the ability of hospitals to handle expatriate-related health emergencies.

Diplomatic watchers say this incident could intensify scrutiny on how Nigeria handles foreign nationals’ welfare within its borders—especially as international visits and investments grow in the wake of renewed bilateral agreements.
