The media aides and supporters of the General Manager of ASEPA has blamed Gov. Okezie Ikpeazu for not giving ASEPA enough funds to effectively do their job.

In a write up posted online by one of the supporters of ASEPA GM, he claimed that N200 million was usually released monthly to Rt. Hon. Cosmos Ndukwe during his time as ASEPA GM, while N66 – 70 Million was released during Hon. Martins Apugo period, but N22 Million is what is received to Hon. Victor Apugo monthly which is the reason why he can not perform.

WITHOUT PREJUDICE, WHEN NOT TO PLAY POLITICS, ASEPA IN FOCUS

Under Chief Cosmos Ndukwe, a whooping 200 million naira and above were been released monthly to Asepa as monthly subvention. Under Hon Martins Apugo, monthly subvention came to about 66/70 million naira monthly considering the carving out of ASEPA Aba Zone. Under Hon Victor Apugo, it started revolving around 22 million till date. A curious person should remember that at the time subvention was about 200 million, the price of diesel was below 100 naira per liter. Under Martins Apugo it was a little above 100 naira, now that the price of diesel sells at 220 naira per liter,  the monthly subvention is 22 million per month. How do one justify paying both permanent and contract staff, buying tyres, servicing compactors and the ad-hoc staff cum sweepers.

No sane Abian can dispute the fact that the return of traders at ISIGATE Umuahia is counterproductive and a ready made refuse dump itself. Refuse is generated per second and in a day, more than two trailer loads of refuse is expected with clinical efficiency. This is an added responsibility without added provision. Also the subletting and contracting out of major areas to individuals breeds laziness and negligence while the blames goes to the GM who the indolent contractors owes no homage to.

From the foregoing, an unbiased mind will agree with me that the hands of the heads of this parastatals are technically tied.

The resolve of the leadership of the house to take a critical look at these inhibitions as regards these parastatals is a welcomed development considering the leadership qualities of Engr Chinedum Orji. (IKUKU). We are hopeful that when these challenges are identified and addressed headlong, ASEPA and other parastatals will be back on track.

Finally, I challenge with due respect the media handlers of Abia House of Assembly to brace up and raise a press release of the misinterpration of House resolution concerning ASEPA. this has become necessary considering how Ohuhu extraction are taking the matter boasting that their own brother in the house have succeeded in indicting an Ibeku son in the course of discharging his duties. From all ramifications, a counter from either the table of the aforementioned Honorable member has become necessary so as to douse the tension already breeding inasmuch as they have made known the name of their Ohuhu brother he’s projecting to take over the ASEPA mantle of leadership if he succeeds in this dance of shame. (if proven eventually).

Finally, I urge every political office seeker to do away with witch hunting and backbiting under any guise so as to legitimize the mandate giving to the PDP and governor Ikpeazu who has come to deliver dividends of Democracy to all Abians irrespective of where one comes from..

The GM as a person is a young and energetic young man who is extraordinary in service delivery which the governor acknowledged during the Umuahia East political Assembly rally held in his honor courtesy of Hon Victor Apugo (Ngwongwo Abia) , He act with a speed of light when committed in any position. He has done well in Asepa and the current challenges isn’t enough to cast aspersions on the state government over waste management, we believe that once these refuse disposal bottlenecks are handled, Abia will maintain it’s place in cleanliness in the comity of states in Nigeria.
