… Calls for the recall of Abia Deputy Speaker Ifeanyi Uchendu
The All Progressives Congress (APC), has reacted to the sanction given to the member representing Bende North State Constituency, Hon Chijioke Chukwu, after he urged Governor Okezie Ikpeazu to clear all outstanding salaries of Abia workers.
In a statement signed by the publicity secretary, Abia State APC, Comrade Benedict Godson and made available to AF-NEWS, the party said the call made by the honorable member was a Godly call as he requested the Governor to show an act of love to workers in the state during the past Easter period.
The party wondered why the PDP would ‘see such a noble call as disruptive and destructive to the good governance of Abia State’.
“What offence did Hon Chijioke Chukwu commit? He only asked the perpetually indebted PDP administration led by Dr Okezie Victor Ikpeazu, to pay his workers and pensioners to enable them enjoy the Easter holiday as he and other politicians did with their families.
” What’s wrong with such a statement or call that should even attract applause?
” Why must the PDP think that everybody is mad in this state?
“Why must workers be owed while government officials go about enjoying themselves? the statement queried.
It further called for a recall for the deputy speaker who allegedly, does not know his primary duties in the House.
” We are also using this medium to call on those who sent the deputy speaker to represent them to quickly recall him, because he doesn’t know his primary duties in the House. He’s playing politics with the welfare of Abians.
” Every legislator is sent to represent his constituency made up of Abians. You are there to speak for Abians not for your party, your friend or the governor”.
” No amount of excuse is enough to justify what Abia government is doing to workers and pensioners in this state.
The statement further read;
” Also as a party, we will never allow any form of intimidation against any of our legislator who are saying the minds of the people.
” Abia APC hereby use this medium to join our voice with the voice of Hon Chijioke Chukwu and call on Dr Okezie Ikpeazu to pay Abia workers, teachers, and pensioners before they all perish”.
