Dele Momodu, Ovation publisher, has dismissed conspiracy theories regarding the #EndBadGovernance protests, asserting that no group or individual instigated the demonstrations. He defends the Igbo community against baseless accusations and criticizes the government’s performance.
Ovation publisher Dele Momodu has come out strongly against conspiracy theories circulating about the ongoing #EndBadGovernance protests across Nigeria. In a candid tweet on Friday, Momodu responded to claims that the protests were orchestrated by specific groups or individuals, including allegations aimed at the Igbo community.
Addressing these concerns, Momodu made it clear that the #EndBadGovernance protests are not the result of any external manipulation but are a genuine expression of public frustration and hunger. “This unfortunate conspiracy theory was forwarded to me this morning by a Tinubu apologist. Here’s my response: It is all a cheap blackmail. The people are hungry while government is living large,” he tweeted.
Momodu emphasized the baselessness of claims blaming the Igbo for the protests, defending the community’s reputation as traders who take care of their own globally. He stated, “The Igbo are largely traders. They look after their own globally. Nobody instigated anyone or anything.”
The media mogul also criticized attempts to ethnicize the #EndBadGovernance protests, calling it a disingenuous strategy to divert attention from the real issues. “You guys should accept the reality that Tinubu has not done very well. Leave the Igbo out of your excuses. To ethnicize the protests is to be disingenuous,” he added.
Momodu’s remarks come amid growing tensions and misinformation surrounding the protests, which have seen Nigerians take to the streets to demand better governance and accountability. His comments serve as a reminder that the core issues driving the protests are economic hardship and dissatisfaction with the current administration’s performance.
