…. Reasons why he may have moved revealed

Mass exodus of people from the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) to the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Abia state seems inevitable . This is as a result of the rummours making the round that the Gubernatorial candidate of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) in the Abia state 2019 elections, Dr. Alex Otti has decamped from the party to the All Progressives Congress

According to some sources that pleaded anonymity, the Former APGA heavyweight and financier in Abia State would soon be making the decision public.

It would be recalled that another prominent citizen and Otti’s close ally, Chief David Ogba Onuoha(Bourdex) who contested the Abia North senatorial zone seat in 2015 and 2019 on the platform of APGA, had already joined the APC, followed by another of his political associate, Chief Chris Nkwonta, who vied for the Abia South senatorial district seat on the platform of APGA in the last election.

The decision by Otti to dump the All Progressives Grand Alliance may not be unconnected to the crisis that has characterized their former party, APGA in recent times.

The All Progressives Grand Alliance seems not ready to put her house in order as it has remained factionalized, especially at the national level, where many leaders of the party like Otti, Victor Umeh, Bianca Odumegwu Ojukwu, Frank Nneji of ABC Transport, and many other respected leaders of the party are insisting that Chief Victor Oye must leave as national chairman of APGA for allegedly using the party to extort aspirants and candidates during the last APGA primaries, an action that allegedly subjected the party to public odioum. Their position however seems not to be in tandem with that of the Anambra governor, Chief Willie Obiano who still supports Oye.

It is alleged that the National leader of APGA, Dr. Willie Obiano is responsible for the preaent crisis rocking the party in various states having allegedly failed to listen to majority views which many believe would have helped restore peace back to the party.

This was made evident in the way and manner he managed the party in the last 2019 elections where the party lost a golden opportunity to penetrate and occupy the Abia and Imo state Government Houses.

Dr. Alex Otti, a former managing director/chief executive of Diamond bank, who also served as the Chairman of Bank CEOs in Nigeria, had contested the Governorship position in Abia Abia state on the platform of APGA in 2015 and 2019, but now seems to be waving the party a goodbye.

An unverified source said The ex-banker had already registered as APC member in his Mbutu Ward 5,Isialangwa South LGA, and is merely waiting for the appropriate time to make his move and that of his supporters public.

This was confirmed by A chieftain of the APC in Abia state who wouldn’t want his name in Print though he said it has not been officially made open due to logistics reasons.

“The plan had been to officially receive Dr Alex Oti into the APC in the first week of April 2020 but the Advent of COVID-19 altered everything, nothwithstanding , we are very ready and waiting for the conducive atmosphere to welcome him ”

Investigation by our reporters also revealed that the rumour of the planned decamp to the APC by Otti has received thunderous welcome in many APC platforms, where many are making references to his consistent doggedness, courage and contacts, as well as his financial capacity as factors that would help the APC give their opponents a run for their money.

There is yet to be an official statement from Dr. Alex Oti to confirm the validity of the rummour which is fast spreading, but Otti’ media aide, Mr Ferdinand Ekeoma said his Principal would address the issue in due course, but insisted that whatever decision that would be taken by his principal must as always, be people driven, in line with his political philosophy of “Think Abia First”
