The member representing Giwa West Constituency in the Kaduna state House of Assembly, Rilwanu Gadagau, has been killed by bandits.

The lawmaker was said to have been shot dead on Monday, December 13 while travelling along the Kaduna-Zaria Highway .

The remains of Gadagau, who was the Chairman of the Committee on Local Government and Rural Development in the state Assembly, was recovered on Wednesday, December 15 near Mawai village.

Other travelers were reportedly attacked and abducted during the bandit’s operation on the highway, while one traveler identified as Sani Dogara was also killed.

Confirming the incident in a statement on Wednesday, the Speaker of the state Assembly, Yusuf Zailani, said;

“This is tragic and painful. We are in deep grief over this sad incident.

“Our prayers at this time goes to his immediate family. Honourable Gadagau was a young and dynamic lawmaker, who had a passion for his constituency, state and Nigeria. We will miss his vibrant contributions.”

“Our hearts also go out to those kidnapped in the same operation, believing that they would be rescued by security operatives as soon as possible.”
