Corps Members Allowance

Former Kaduna Senator, Shehu Sani has reacted to the increase in the monthly allowance for corps members of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) from N33,000 to N77,000.

ALL FACTS NEWSPAPER reports that the federal government on Wednesday evening, announced the increase in a statement issued by Acting Director of Information and Public Relations of the NYSC, Caroline Embu.

The increment takes effect from July 2024.

Reacting to the development, Sani who since he left the senate, has become a public commentator, took to his official X handle to commend the government for the increase.

He, however, appealed that the monthly allowance for female corps members should be increased.

According to him, the monthly allowance for female corps members should be increased to One Hundred Thousand Naira (N100k), arguing that they suffer more.

He wrote, “The increase in the allowance of the Youth corpers to 77k is commendable.

“But those of the Female Corpers should have been jerked up to 100k since they suffer more.”
