[ISUIKWUATO] Security challenges: More stakeholders speak | READ DETAILS

As the recent rise in crime in Isuikwuato L.G.A. of Abia State continues to spike on the faces of all within the State and far beyond, many stakeholders in the area have come out to speak on what they referred to as the need for a safe and secured area.

In his statement, the former Assistant Inspector General of Police, AIG Donald Iroham (Rtd) has refereed the situation as very worrisome while blaming the porous nature of the different access points into Isuikwuato as the cause. The former AIG further called from improved security network within the area while intensifying efforts towards tightening the various entrance points into the area.

On his part, the President-General, Isuikwuato Development Union, Dr Chukwuemeka Onuoha regretted the abandonment of the area by the present State Government. He noted that since October 8, 2020, when the cases of kidnapping were reported, nothing was done until last week. The President-General revealed that the people of the area have been in great pains as a result of these security challenges while lamenting the deplorable and worst state of all the roads leading to Isuikwuato. He further called for a separation of the herdsmen from the bushes as well as the involvement of the town unions in security meetings and activities.

Speaking also, the former President General, Isuikwuato Development Union, Barr. Kenneth Ahia (SAN) and a concerned stakeholder in Isuikwuato, Mr Dave Agwalla blamed the issue of the security challenges on the road networks and security apparatus while calling for urgent actions towards bringing a lasting solution to the recent hike in crime experienced in the area.
