Coordinator of Abia Arise in Isuikwuato LGA, Emmanuel Okoronkwo, has commended Governor Alex Otti of Abia State for the successful commissioning of the newly reconstructed 46.3-kilometre Umuahia-Uzoakoli-Akara-Abiriba-Ohafia road.
Okoronkwo, who leads the Isuikwuato chapter of Abia Arise—the grassroots political movement driving support for the Labour Party-led administration—described the event as another historic milestone in Otti’s transformational governance.
He stated this in a congratulatory message made available to newsmen on Saturday, a day after the project was officially commissioned by Nigeria’s former President, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo.
According to Okoronkwo, the people of Abia are not only excited about the newly commissioned road but are also gaining renewed hope in governance and infrastructure revival under Governor Otti.
“This is not just a road project. It’s a symbol of restored confidence. Abians are happy, hopeful, and increasingly supportive of Governor Otti’s leadership,” Okoronkwo said.
He noted that the level of infrastructural development across the state, especially in critical areas like road construction, healthcare, education, and rural development, is making it easier to win new converts into the Abia Arise structure.
“More people are trooping into Abia Arise every day because they now see good governance in action. It is easier now to convince even the strongest doubters,” he added.
The 46.3km road, which stretches from Umuahia through Uzoakoli, Akara, Abiriba, and ends in Ohafia, was reconstructed to world-class standards and is expected to boost economic activity, rural connectivity, and ease of transportation for residents and traders in the region.
The commissioning ceremony held on Friday, April 11, 2025, attracted dignitaries from across the country, including former President Olusegun Obasanjo, who performed the official ribbon-cutting alongside Governor Alex Otti.
Obasanjo, in his address, praised the governor’s courage and vision, noting that Nigeria needs more leaders like Otti who are committed to genuine development and public service.
Okoronkwo concluded by urging residents of Isuikwuato Local Government Area and other parts of Abia State to continue supporting the Otti-led administration, emphasizing that the journey to a new Abia has only just begun.
