The man whose picture appear below is a true son of Abia, a patriot but a journalist of conscience. His name is DON OBINNA NORMAN He has so much damaging information against T.A. Orji’s former government and against the present government in Abia State. At any given opportunity he has not failed to reveal how Abia was and is being gang-raped by their leaders. For this, he is hated with passion and several means have been sought to incarcerate and keep him away from circulation by both T.A. Orji (former governor of Abia) and possibly the government in power. 

Recently he was purportedly declared WANTED by the Nigerian Police in Umuahia. Publication was made to that effect. He sought the intervention of the judiciary and got a reprieve wherein the court restrained the Nigerian Police or any security agency from arresting him. That court order subsists and has not been set aside.
Learnt that he was at a radio program yesterday ( Flow FM in Umuahia) where he revealed some of the atrocities of the present government and while inside the studio he was arrested in a gestapo manner by the agents of the Nigerian Police. The CP maybe working in cahoot with the present government. The impartiality and fairness of the new Commissioner of Police in Abia is another topic for another day. He was immediately taken to a magistrate court, all pre arranged and charged for an offence that is unclear to me. Learnt that the Magistrate who sat over the matter declined jurisdiction BUT WENT AHEAD TO REMAND HIM IN AFARA PRISON TILL APRIL(very strange procedure because if the court lacks jurisdiction, it had no legal basis to have him remanded in prison. At best the Magistrate would have asked them to return Mr Norman to police custody pending the time he will be charged to the appropriate court).

REQUESTS:

May I use this opportunity to call all the stakeholders in Nigeria and Abia to rise and condemn this barbaric act of the person who has done this in cahoot with the Nigerian Police Authority in Abia. For God’s sake we are not in banana republic! IF HE HAS COMMITTED ANY OFFENSE KNOWN TO LAW, NORMAN SHOULD BE TAKEN TO THE APPROPRIATE COURT AND CHARGED ACCORDINGLY. That is the law!
I implore the stakeholders to demand his immediate release from the prison custody that was wrongly procured. The stakeholders I am calling upon to act are the Nigerian Bar Association, the Nigerian Union of Journalists, the Human Rights Community nation wide, International Human Rights Organizations in Nigeria, the Attorney General of the Federation, the Federal Government of Nigeria and all Concerned Citizens in Nigeria. Abia State Government cannot be allowed to operate as if there is no government in Nigeria, we are not in a BANANA REPUBLIC FOR GOD’S SAKE!
Information available to me is that several others who are opposed to the mis governance and impunity of the present government in ABIA have been pencilled down for arrests, harassment, intimidation and possible elimination in the weeks ahead. We cannot allow this to stand, we call on all Nigerians to rise and SAVE ABIA AND ABIANS FROM DESTRUCTION IN THE STATE. FOR NOW, ALL EYES SHOULD BE ON ABIA, PLEASE!
