In the sermon tagged ”anti government” by the steering committee,the Imam appealed to faithfuls and Nigerians to boycott their civil duties in the brewing 2023 general elections if the security challenges plaguing the nation are left unattended to by the government.
According to the committee, the sermon which captured the current state of the country was capable of inciting public outrage.
The suspension has left the cyber space in turmoil, with some netizens throwing their weight around the cleric and others insisting the sermon stems from pure sentiments against President Buhari-led government.
Faulting the sermon, Gumi has described it as a case of “sentiments overriding intellect”.
In the controversial cleric’s opinion, the Imam was wrong for promoting apathy, adding the move is worse than the kidnappings in the country.
He said;
“It’s a case of sentiments overriding intellect. Calling masses not to vote out incompetent government by massive voting is worst than the few kidnappings and a misplaced judgment”.
