INEC Official Arrested| READ WHY
The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC has confirmed that one of its security guards in Rivers State have been arrested on grounds of alleged extortion.
The commission’s Public Affairs Officer in the state, Geraldine Ekelemu, disclosed this in a statement issued in Port Harcourt on Tuesday.
Ekelemu said the guard, whose name was not disclosed, was arrested by operatives of the Department of State Services.
She further disclosed that the security guard who is attached to the commission’s area office in Obio/Akpor Local Government Area of the state reportedly collected money from members of the public.
The statement reads;
” The Independent National Electoral Commission in Rivers State can confirm that one of its security guards attached to its Obio/Akpor area office has been arrested by agents of the Department of State Services on allegation of extortion of money from members of the public.
