INEC Deletes Ado Doguwa From Reps-elect List After M-urder, Arson Allegations
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has deleted the name of the Majority Leader of the House of Representatives, Ado Doguwa, from the list of elected 10th House of Representatives members.
INEC had earlier announced Doguwa, a member of the All Progressives Congress (APC), as the winner of the February 25, 2023 election in the Doguwa/Tudunwada constituency.
He polled 39,732 votes to defeat the candidate of the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP), Yushau Salisu Abdullahi, who polled 34,798 votes.
However a list of House of Reps members elect released by INEC did not include Doguwa’s name rather the Commission remarked that the election result was declared under duress.
Doguwa was arrested for allegedly killing several persons and burning of the Secretariat of NNPP in the just concluded general election in Kano state.
Doguwa was on Wednesday remanded in prison custody by a chief magistrates’ court in Kano.
