As the nation prepares to inaugurate new governments at federal and state levels, the Chancellor and Founder of Gregory University Uturu,Prof Gregory Ibe, has recommended prayers as panacea to societal challenges.
Speaking on the heels of ongoing preparations for the swearing in of President Muhammadu Buhari for a second term in office, and 29 governors across the nation,Prof Ibe called for resort to fervent prayers interceding for God’s intervention in the multitude of problems plaguing the land.According to him, “Beyond the celebrations that usually characterise inauguration of new governments in Nigeria, let us follow the injunctions of our Lord, who in his word enjoined us to pray, intercede and give thanks for kings and all people in authority”.
Continuing,he stated that it is only when we adopt spirituality to such debilitating societal problems as insecurity, corruption and hyper-inflationary trends, that we can unearth lasting solutions,in line with the scripture that says ‘the fervent prayers of the righteous avails much’.
Turning to Abia state,Prof Ibe particularly solicited for dedicated prayers and unrelented support for the returnee governor,Dr Okezie Ikpeazu, stressing that “God’s own state can only attain greatness if the people learn to commit their leaders to God in prayer, while offering them physical support”
