IKWUANO SOCIO-ECONOMIC SUMMIT: Elites, Stakeholders Lauds Blueprint, Harps On Accountability

Elites and stakeholders have thrown their weight behind the economic blueprint launching at the Ikwuano Socio-Economic Summit scheduled to hold from 3rd to 5th January, 2023.

The stakeholders respectively stressed on the need to ensure that transparency and accountability remains the key player in the administration of the new vision of Ikwuano Local Government Area of Abia state.

Speaking on his expectations from the upcoming Summit, Dr Ifeanyi Uke, a Clinical Psychologist based in the United States of America (USA) and the Elders’ Committee chairman, Ahamefula Development Initiative Ikwuano  (ADII) said it is expected that the Ikwuano economic blueprint will bring about positive changes in the administration of Ikwuano Local Government Area.

“Going forward, it is definitely not going to be business as usual in the governance and administration of Ikwuano LG, we expect the launching of the Economic Blueprint for Ikwuano will chart a way forward in this direction” Uke said.

He charged the people of Ikwuano especially the youths to vote the right candidates and not be sentimental when casting their votes in the 2023 general elections.

“In the 2023 General Elections, our youths especially, must undertake due diligence on politicians to vote into offices, they should not vote based on sentiments or other mundane considerations” he said

Another US-based Ikwuano son, Engineer Joseph Mpamaugo, the Vice-chairman of ADII, said; “The take-away we expect from this Summit is that henceforth Ikwuano people deserve accountability in the administration of the LG. Those seeking elective positions to represent Ikwuano must be ready to be accountable to the people.”

The Ikwuano Socio-Economic summit 2023, was conceived by the ADII as part of its strategies to jumpstart socio-economic development of Ikwuano LGA, an agrarian area.

The Summit with the theme: “Sustainable Economic Development in Ikwuano: A Roadmap for the 21st Century” will also witness the launching of ‘Ikwuano Economic Blueprint’ under the chairmanship of Barrister Monday Onyekachi Ubani, the Chairman, Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) Section on Public Interest and Development Law (SPIDEL).

Dr Anthony Ewelike will deliver the keynote address while Professor (Mrs) Ihuoma Ndimele would deliver a special paper at the Summit.

The 3-day Summit would equally provide a platform for politicians seeking elective offices in the forthcoming 2023 General Elections to discuss their manifestos with Ikwuano people.
