A strong political declaration has emerged from Ikwuano Local Government Area as prominent legal practitioner and Senior Advocate of Nigeria, Monday Ubani, declared that the people of Ikwuano are fully in support of the re-election of Abia State Governor, Alex Chioma Otti.
In a statement made on behalf of Ikwuano sons and daughters, Ubani said the people of the area have spoken with one voice and remain unwavering in their support for Governor Otti’s second term.
According to him, Ikwuano had supported Otti even before he became governor in 2023, noting that their decision at the time was driven by conviction, vision, and hope for a better Abia State.
He stated that developments and reforms witnessed since Otti assumed office have justified the confidence the people reposed in him.
Ubani noted that the performance of the current administration in governance and development has attracted attention beyond Abia State, adding that many residents believe continuity in leadership would help consolidate the gains already recorded.
He said the people of Ikwuano believe Governor Otti should complete what he described as a full eight-year tenure to fully implement his development vision for the state.
According to him, after the completion of the Governor’s tenure, power can then rotate to another credible Abia son to continue the development trajectory of the state.
The Senior Advocate also reacted to what he described as political threats and moves by opposition parties to take control of Ikwuano ahead of the next election.
He stated that the people of Ikwuano remain politically alert and united, insisting that the area would not be taken over politically by opposition forces seeking to weaken Governor Otti’s support base.
Political observers say the statement may signal early political alignments and positioning ahead of the next governorship election in Abia State.
Ubani further stated that Abia State must not return to what he described as the dark days of decay, mismanagement, and reckless handling of public resources.
He stressed that many residents believe the state is currently on a different path and should continue in that direction.
He also emphasized faith in God and expressed the belief that Abia State would continue to move forward politically and economically.
Analysts say political endorsements and declarations from influential stakeholders and communities may continue to increase as political activities gradually begin ahead of the next election cycle in Abia State.
They note that endorsements from local government areas often play a significant role in shaping political momentum and voter alignment ahead of major elections.
