ABIA SOUTH 2023: Ikpeazu Has Nothing To Offer; Step Down For Abaribe – Ehiemere

Few months to the 2023 elections, the Abia state chairman of the All Progressive Grand Alliance (APGA), Reverend Augustine Ehiemere, has called on governor Okezie Ikpeazu, PhD, to step down for Senator Enyinnaya Abaribe whom he is contesting the Abia South Senatorial district seat with.

According to Ehiemere, Abaribe has provided dividends of democracy in every community in Abia south and has offered the people what the past and present state governments have not been able to do.

Ehiemere insisted that governor Ikpeazu has not done anything for the people of Abia South, adding that the governor cannot attract projects to Abia south as a senator since he could not do so as a governor.

“For Gods sake, Okezie Ikpeazu, should step down because he has nothing to offer to the people of Abia South”.

“Abaribe knows the needs of his people; he is not a political noise maker. In every community in Abia south, Enyinnaya Abaribe has touched their lives providing electricity, transformers, solar lights, borehole water, among others”.

“What the state government has not done over the years even before Ikpeazu; Abaribe has provided dividends of democracy for the poor masses” Ehiemere said on Tuesday, during a press conference in Umuahia.

He called on the people of Abia South to ensure that Abaribe returns to the Senate come 2023 adding that ” I don’t know what Okezie Ikpeazu is going to the Senate to do”.

According to Ehiemere, Ikpeazu in his years in office as governor of Abia state, was unable to construct good roads especially in his Senatorial district. He cited Port Harcourt road, Ohanku road, Obohia road, Ukwa west and east roads which he described as death traps.

“The infrastructural development Okezie Ikpeazu could not provide for the people of Abia South when he was a governor controlling the whole federal allocation and 13% oil derivation, is it when he gets to the Senate that he will do it? The APGA chairman queried.

He refuted speculations that Abaribe have been bought over by opposition parties, noting that Abaribe believes in justice and charter of equity which was his major motivation for dumping the PDP.
