The Igbokwe family has released the official burial programme for their late matriarch, Dame Peace Igbokwe. A series of solemn activities have been scheduled as relatives and well-wishers gather to honor her legacy. Read full details below.

The family of Nze Samuel Nmaralam Igbokwe of Wowo Umueke-Umuyota, Umuawa Alaocha, in Umuahia North Local Government Area of Abia State, has officially commenced the burial arrangements for their beloved matriarch, Dame Peace Onyekwulechi Igbokwe (née Ogu), popularly known as Peace Kwulechi, who passed away in 2025 at the age of 60.
The rites began today with a Service of Songs at her Lagos residence located at 34 Road, A’Close, House 13, Gowon Estate, marking the start of a carefully planned programme set to honor her remarkable life and legacy.
According to the detailed burial schedule released by the family, the funeral ceremonies will continue on Friday, January 9, 2026, with a Service of Songs/Tribute Night at the Igbokwe family home in Umueke-Umuyota, Umuawa Alaocha. This solemn gathering is expected to attract relatives, friends, community leaders, and well-wishers who will pay glowing tributes to the late matriarch.
Activities will progress on Saturday, January 10, 2026, beginning with the departure of her body from the mortuary, followed by a lying-in-state at her residence. A funeral procession will thereafter move to Wesley Cathedral, where a full funeral service will be held before her interment at the family compound. The day will conclude with a reception at Umuawa Central School.
The final thanksgiving service is scheduled for Sunday, January 11, 2026, at the Methodist Church, Umuawa Alaocha, where the family and well-wishers will gather to appreciate God for a life well-lived.
Speaking on behalf of the family, entertainment promoter and humanitarian, Mayor Lucky Igbokwe (Don Lulu), expressed deep gratitude to friends, relatives, and the public for their outpouring of support as the family begins the emotional journey of laying their matriarch to rest. He described the late Dame Peace as a woman whose values, kindness, and strength touched many lives across communities.
